by Reads (2,405)

If you haven’t heard of INSIDEMind, don’t feel bad, neither had I before this review. They specialize in inexpensive software for fun and work. All titles are $3, so the price is right, but is the quality worth even this minimal risk?

Name of the Game:
Arabian Nights

About the Game:
This is a very challenging puzzle game with 7 different levels of difficulty. It will challenge even the most strategic mind.

Do you remember the little square puzzle games with the numbered pieces you could move around? The goal was to get all the numbers in the proper chronological order. (Example: 1,2,3) The problem was you only had three empty spaces to move the game pieces.

Yeah that’s the one, it took you forty-seven moves to get the numbers one, two and three in proper sequence.

Well, the game is back, this time with pictures on the little moveable squares. Add one major surprise, not all of the pieces are the same size and some of the pieces are not rectangular. (The plot thickens)

Are you beginning to see the difficulty? Well guess what each level gets more difficult yes, different shapes of puzzle pieces again .

This game is definitely a brain muscle exerciser.

Sound Effects:
The sound effects are the simple sound of the objects moving. There is an option to silence it if it really does not excite your mind to new heights of achievement.

Graphics:
The graphics are clean, simple, easy on the eyes and appealing.

Controls:
The controls work well, make it easy to navigate and change levels. Help information is abundant.

Installation:
The download and initial operation of the program was very smooth.

Playback environment:
Dell Axim X-5 Advanced

Pros:
The interface is attractive yet very simple. The game provides some serious challenge, is well thought through, and provides an enjoyable experience. Any real puzzle lover could be captivated for hours.

Cons:
They could add a little bit more color to the different levels so more variety is presented, however I really like this company s general program format ideas.

Bottom line:
For $3.00 buy one for yourself and all your best buds. Any real puzzle lover will enjoy this game.

Name of the Game:
Hangman

About the Game:
The ageless game of “Hangman” is back. This game does not have the excitement of driving 100 mph in the San Dunes, it is more like a quiet afternoon on the farm playing chess.

Hangman is another great brainteaser with a twist, “Get it right or you’ll hang for it.”

It offers seven categories of trivia in a pleasing format that needs no explanation.

Sound Effects:
It does not have any. It is probably better off in the quiet mode anyway. Sound effects would be repetitive.

Graphics:
The graphics are clean, simple, and easy on the eyes.

Controls:
The controls are a breeze to use and are very well organized. Help is non-existent, but the game is very simple and the layout leads you naturally to the next thing to do.

Installation:
The download and initial operation of the program was very smooth.

Playback environment:
Dell Axim X-5 Advanced

Pros:
The Ageless game of Hangman in an exciting easy to use format, with trivia divided in categories and some good motivation to get it right or hang for it.

Cons:
None

Bottom line:
If you like trivia games this would be a great game to add to your collection. If not, buy it for your kids they’ll learn a some cool facts.

Overall, I was pleased with INSIDEMind’s efforts. If they stay on task this company will produce some great games and other software products in the future. I like their clean format, generous trial period, and low cost.
