Caris & Company is again high on Palm the stock and full of insight on the products they offer. They issued a report last November that detailed the entire Treo roadmap. This time they’re speculating that the Palm OS version of the Treo 700, dubbed the Treo 700p, will be out on the Verizon network first, this April, ahead of initial expectations.
Kalla believes the new Treo 700 with the Palm OS may be delivered in April, before expectations of May, and may also be released initially at Verizon.
Palm will also have three new international phones out of four total new phones in 2006, and at least one new phone could be for Vodafone, Kalla said. From Forbes.com
I don’t think her assessment, or at least quoted assessment, of international is quite right, but in any event, those looking to stay on the Palm OS platform while upgrading to the Treo 700, your time is coming soon. It’s still not immediately clear what upgrades the Treo 700p will have over the current Treo 650.
Other tidbits from the story indicate that Palm is a potential takeout candidate by a larger handset company and the Treo 700w is selling out at most Verizon stores.
