Smartphones are getting bigger and bigger, but an upcoming model is bucking that trend. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket will be very pocketable.

Samsung Galaxy PocketIt will have a 2.8-inch QVGA (320 x 480) display — by comparison, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III is rumored to sport a  4.8-inch 1920 x 1080 one.

The Galaxy Pocket’s specs are going to be decidedly entry-level: it is going to run Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) on an 832 MHz single-core processor. The TouchWiz UI will be layered on top. It will include 3 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for additional capacity.

This Samsung model will have a 2 megapixel fixed-focus rear-facing camera.  A 1200 mAh battery will power it.

Still, it won’t be completely “bare bones”. Its wireless capabilities will include 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS.

So far, the only country that will definitely  get the Samsung Galaxy Pocket is the U.K. Pricing has not yet been announced, but given its feature set it will likely be very affordable.
