Samsung Galaxy S Debuts in Europe, Might Come to the U.S. this Summer

The Android OS-based Samsung Galaxy S has just launched in Europe, and will be released in the U.S. later this year. This high-end smartphone sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED Touchscreen and 1 GHz processor.

Samsung Galaxy SIt is available in Europe from over 100 retailers and mobile operators starting today.

Coming to T-Mobile USA?
Samsung has committed to releasing the Galaxy S in the United States at some point this year, but has yet to be more specific.

There have been several unconfirmed reports that indicate that this smartphone will be released by T-Mobile USA either later this month or in July.

An Overview of the Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung’s latest runs Google’s Android OS 2.1 on a 1 GHz processor. It runs the TouchWiz 3.0 user-interface, and uses Swype for text input.

But the feature that has attracted the most attention is its 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) Super AMOLED touchscreen.

The Galaxy S also includes 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a GPS receiver. It comes with either 8 GB or 16 GB of on-board memory, expandable to 32 GB with an external memory card.

In addition, this smartphone features a 5-megapixel camera and the ability to shoot 720p video.
