Samsung Galaxy S IVToday, what is apparently an image of Samsung’s upcoming handset the Galaxy S IV appeared on the Web.

The picture came from an undisclosed Samsung insider, and was given to web publisher SamMobile, While the image looks genuine, the validity remains in question.

Currently the design appears to be a mix between the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy S Premier.

If this photo does indeed turn out to a real representation of the Samsung’s next flagship device, there are a few things that can be inferred. For starters, the device will use on-screen buttons, as there is no home button located on the front of the device. Additionally, the design seems to be somewhat similar to the iPhone 5, where the bezel is much thinner, allowing the device to feature a larger display without being bulkier than its predecessor.

While the image does not allow us to make any further estimations as to the specifics of the device, recent speculation suggest that the Galaxy S IV will be equipped with a powerful Exynos 5450 quad-core 2GHz CPU, with 2GB of RAM, and a Mali-T658 GPU. The device is also expected to offer a 5-inch SuperAMOLED 1080 x 1920 HD display, with a 13-megapixel rear facing camera. It is expected to run on Android 4.2.1 out of the box. There was also a rumor that it will have the S Pen stylus that is part of Samsung’s Note series.

Despite the photo looking somewhat realistic, until Samsung officially weighs on the matter we cannot be sure if this is the actual Galaxy S IV. Samsung is expected to officially reveal the Samsung Galaxy S IV at Mobile World Congress in February.
