The Android OS-based Samsung Galaxy S launched in Europe last week, and persistent but unconfirmed reports say T-Mobile USA will introduce it in the next month or so. A new report supposedly gives the exact release date for the smartphone, which sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED Touchscreen and 1 GHz processor.
Samsung has committed to introducing the Galaxy S in the United States at some point this year, but has yet to be more specific.
There have been several unconfirmed reports that indicate that this smartphone will be released by T-Mobile USA either later this month or in July.
The latest report says the launch date will be July 21.
An Overview of the Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung’s latest runs Google’s Android OS 2.1 on a 1 GHz processor. It runs the TouchWiz 3.0 user-interface, and uses Swype for text input.
But the feature that has attracted the most attention is its 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) Super AMOLED touchscreen.
The Galaxy S also includes 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a GPS receiver. It comes with either 8 GB or 16 GB of on-board memory, expandable to 32 GB with an external memory card.
In addition, this smartphone features a 5-megapixel camera and the ability to shoot 720p video.
