The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has given Samsung permission to release a new smartphone in the U.S.
The SGH-i270 will be a fairly standard Windows Mobile device with no really cutting-edge features.
It will use a clamshell design, with a 176-by-220-pixel display on one side and a keyboard on the other. A 128-by-96-pixel display will be on the outside.
On the hinge will be a 1 megapixel camera capable of recording MPEG4 video.
The i270 will have 32 MB of RAM, and it will have a miniSD card slot for additional storage.
This is a GSM/GPRS device that also include Bluetooth short-range wireless networking.
It is not known when the Samsung SGH-i270 will be available, or what it will cost.
All the information filed with the FCC on this model can be found on this government agency’s web site.
