Samsung has announced Smart Home, which will let consumers use one platform to unite Smart TVs, home appliances, and mobile devices. The company also revealed it will eventually extend the service to include third-party products outside of the Samsung brand.
The Smart Home service will work using one app that will connect to multiple devices via an integrated cloud service. This means users will be able to adjust the thermostat in their home, change the lighting, check that appliances are off, and more while away from the home.
It will also respond to voice commands using Galaxy Gear, so with just one phrase, a user’s house will be locked up with all compatible appliances, shut down, or turned on, according to the settings. While on the go, users will be able to check in on their connected devices and appliances, as well as any connected security cameras.
The company is expected to release more about Smart Home in the coming days during CES 2014 in Las Vegas.
