Samsung is going big again with today’s announcement of the Galaxy Grand 2, its latest large-screened smartphone. In the same vein as Samsung’s other hefty Galaxy phones like the Note 3, the Galaxy Grand 2 rocks a 5.25-inch, 1280×720 display with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Samsung Galaxy Round 2Underneath that big screen, though, the Galaxy Grand 2 has some decidedly middle-class horsepower. Its 1.2 GHz quad-core processor is accompanied by 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of upgradeable storage, and a 2,600mAh battery. A 8-megapixel rear camera is joined by a 1.9-megapixel shooter on the front.

The device comes with Android 4.3 out of the box, which is covered by Samsung’s usual skin and software. The whole package is 163g heavy and 8.9mm thin, and will come in either black, pink or white. Of note is that there’s no LTE compatibility here, so you’ll have to make due with HSPA+ if you want to crank the fastest speeds out of this thing.

Samsung’s keeping coy on exact launch details for the Galaxy Grand 2, only noting that it’ll be available in “select regions” at an unannounced date and price. The company wouldn’t confirm or deny if the phone is eventually coming to the US, but we’ll keep you posted if any new details leak out.
