Last year, SanDisk came out with an SD flash memory card that can also can be used as a high-speed USB 2.0 flash drive.
Now it has announced plans to release a 2 GB version — twice the capacity of any previous one.
Despite this announcement, though, this card is still several months away. SanDisk says it expects to start shipping to stores in June.
“The SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus card is really convenient to use,” said Tanya Chuang, senior retail product marketing manager at SanDisk. “With two gigabytes of capacity you can take many hundreds of high-resolution photos and transfer the images to a computer quickly and easily with the built-in USB connector.”
SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus cards are already available in 1 GB and 512 MB capacities. The recommended prices are $90 and $70, respectively.
