A GPS app from Telenav, Scout for iPhone, was updated this week with new features that let you share your ETA (estimated time of arrival) with friends and provide you with one-click voice-guided navigation to appointments on your calendar.
A new Calendar Integration feature syncs Scout with the user’s existing calendar, allowing Scout to help guide the user to calendar appointments by launching directly into voice-guided navigation. Scout will automatically sync with the user’s calendar each time the app is launched.
When a user receives a notification from a calendar about an upcoming appointment, a Scout alert pops up asking if the user would like navigation to the next destination. Simply click the alert and the voice-guided navigation will launch.
A new On My Way feature allows users to share their real-time progress on a map and their ETA. The idea behind this new feature is to let users make this information available to friends and family without needing to text or call ahead.
OnMyWay will only share information with contacts when prompted. You can set up prepopulated alerts with assigned recipients for specific routes, such as any time you launch a route to home or work.
The update is currently available to users who have the Scout for iPhone app installed.
