Sharp has released an update to the popular C700 series Linux-based PDA. This one also takes the clamshell form factor that appears much like a mini-laptop.

Of course the C860 will draw a ton of attention from the Linux crowd, but given how much our editors liked the C750, it seems Sharp could find a large enough target in the US. Obviouslly they can’t though, so sadly, this unit won’t make it here through traditional channels.
Perhaps the most interesting addition is the translation software. From The Register;
The SL-C860’s unique selling point is integrated English-to-Japanese (and back again) translation software, which appears to operate across all applications. Receive a Japanese e-mail and the Zaurus will convert the text to English.
