Update: On June 20, T-Mobile officially announced the Sidekick 3. More information is available in this article.
Thanks to various leaks, it has been known for some time that Danger, Inc. is putting together a sequel to the Sidekick 2, its popular cellular-wireless handheld. Recently, a possible release date for this device was revealed.
According to MobileHipster.com, the Sidekick 3 will be released on July 10 by T-Mobile USA.
It is not known, though, what this device will cost.
More Information from the FCC
Several months ago, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) gave T-Mobile permission to release the Sidekick 3 in the United States. At that time, however, the maker of this device asked for complete confidentiality.
Apparently, this handheld was supposed to debut before now, because the 45-day confidentiality request has expired, and the Sidekick 3’s user manual is now available on the FCC web site.
Some Details on the Sidekick 3
This will clearly be a breakthrough model for the Sidekick line as it will include many features not in any previous model.
In addition, this will be the first Sidekick with a removable battery and a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash.
Not everything about this device has changed. the Sidekick 3 will apparently resemble its predecessors’ shape, including a color screen that pivots aside to reveal a miniature keyboard.
