MILPITAS, Calif., Dec. 13 — palmOne, Inc. today announced that Silicon Graphics, a leader in high-performance computing, visualization and storage, has deployed 225 Treo 600 smartphones from palmOne to its North American field sales and service force to speed response time and heighten customer satisfaction.
With 2,600 employees worldwide, direct sales in 25 countries as well as distribution in 25 additional countries, SGI sales and service representatives were often disconnected from others in the organization when traveling to remote locations. After careful consideration, SGI chose the Treo 600 smartphone running GoodLink from Good Technology over mobile solutions from Research In Motion. SGI found the Treo 600 to be uncompromising in its ability to deliver equally great phone and email experiences, and far easier to read with a superior color screen.
“We wanted to provide our field sales and service force with a seamless way to stay connected to the people and information they need to do their jobs well. By giving them a phone and access to email and schedules using GoodLink all in one device, the Treo 600 has fundamentally changed the way they work,” said Dean Drougas, chief information officer, SGI. “Once people have the Treo 600, they don’t let it go.”
The Treo 600 also gives employees the flexibility to add software, ranging from MP3 players to applications for viewing PowerPoint presentations. More important, the Treo 600 enables sales and service representatives to remotely access the vital information previously available only in the office. With the Treo 600, employees have wireless access, greater mobility and faster response time.
“Sales and service representatives at SGI using the Treo 600 have exponentially increased their responsiveness to customers. They are able to directly access the answers their customers need at any time from nearly any location,” said Gail Moody-Byrd, director of business marketing for palmOne. “Also, they have eliminated the need to carry multiple devices to on-site locations. palmOne is committed to equipping organizations such as SGI with mobile solutions that raise the bar for efficient business processes and quality customer service.”
