Sling Media has released a promised new version of its streaming media app for the Apple iPhone that can run over AT&T’s 3G service.
“Slingbox users in many countries around the globe, including the United States, can now enjoy their living room TV experience on their iPhone and iPod touch whether on a 3G or WiFi network,” said John Gilmore, senior vice president and general manager at Sling Media.
More about the Sling TV Service
With a Slingbox and SlingPlayer Mobile, smartphone and handheld users can watch and control their home TV and associated equipment without paying a monthly subscription fee.
The iPhone and iPod touch version of this app costs $29.99, and is available now at the iPhone App Store.
There are no subscription fees, but it requires a Slingbox to operate. These start at $180, and can also be used to watch streaming TV from a Windows PC or Mac. The edition for Apple’s devices will only work with Slingbox SOLO, PRO, or PRO-HD.
More information of this software is available on Sling Media’s website.
In addition to the iPhone edition, there are other mobile versions of this software: BlackBerry, Palm OS, Symbian S60, and Windows Mobile.
