SlingPlayer Mobile with 3G Support Now In the iPhone App Store

Sling Media has released a promised new version of its streaming media app for the Apple iPhone that can run over AT&T’s 3G service.

SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone and iPod touchPreviously, the iPhone version of this service would work only over Wi-Fi connections, but AT&T recently dropped this limitation.

“Slingbox users in many countries around the globe, including the United States, can now enjoy their living room TV experience on their iPhone and iPod touch whether on a 3G or WiFi network,” said John Gilmore, senior vice president and general manager at Sling Media.

With a Slingbox and SlingPlayer Mobile, smartphone and handheld users can watch and control their home TV and associated equipment without paying a monthly subscription fee.

The iPhone and iPod touch version of this app costs $29.99, and is available now at the iPhone App Store.

There are no subscription fees, but it requires a Slingbox to operate. These start at $180, and can also be used to watch streaming TV from a Windows PC or Mac. The edition for Apple’s devices will only work with Slingbox SOLO, PRO, or PRO-HD.
