Google has begun sending out maintenance updates to the Samsung Nexus S and Google Nexus One. This is intended to fix a serious bug in these devices in which SMS messages are sometimes sent to the wrong person.

Samsung Nexus S with Google Android OS 2.3The update for the Nexus One will bring this device to Android OS 2.2.2, not the much-anticipated upgrade to Android OS 2.3.

The Nexus S is already running Android OS 2.3, so this system software update brings this model to OS 2.3.2.

At this point, it appears that this update just fixes the SMS bug and makes no other changes.

Going Out Now
Google is sending these updates out over the air (OTA) directly to these smartphones. Users will be notified in the next few days when their device has received the new system software, and given the option to install it.
