Sony has been slow to release their new Clie NX70 PDA’s and now we might know why. Sony has announced they will support Macromedia’s Flash product on their new product line.

Macromedia recently released Flash MX which will open numerous doors in the programming and design world. Perhaps the best part about it, will be the ability to take advantage of this great programming on a PDA.

The Clie NX60, NX70V and NX70 will all be able to take advantage of Flash games, productivity tools and a load of internet functionality when combined with a WiFi or other wireless card.

“Sony looks forward to working closely with Macromedia and its more than 1.6 million creative Macromedia Flash designers and developers to revolutionize the handheld experience,” said Toshinori Nakamura, general manager of the handheld arm of Sony.

One thing you’ve got to notice about this deal is the lack of Palm’s involvement. Once again, Sony beats them to the punch with a fairly important improvement. Ho hum – as is the life of Palm…
