Sony has sent out invitations to a press event being hosted in Berlin on September 4, just prior to the start of IFA 2013, and the reigning consensus is that it will feature the premiere of the long-awaited “Honami” handset.
The Honami, which many are expecting to be officially dubbed the Xperia i1, has been rumored to sport a larger display than its predecessor (the Xperia Z) and will feature a 20-megapixel camera. Though it looks like it will feature a design that’s very similar to that of the Xperia Z, the main focus/difference of the Honami appears to be its high-resolution shooter. Other rumored specs include a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a battery with a capacity that falls somewhere between 2,700 mAh and 3,000 mAh.
The September 4 press event is expected to also feature the reveal of other Sony products, including its “Lens Cameras,” which are not standalone cameras, but rather lenses that can be magnetically attached to a smartphone (not just Sony smartphones, either) to create a powerful shooter. Sony’s new line of action cameras will likely also be revealed, though little is currently known about those particular devices.
