Despite previous rumors about the device, in-the-wild photos of the rumored Sony ‘Honami’ flagship smartphone hadn’t yet surfaced until now. Thanks to a recent batch of leaked images, we have a much better idea of what the Honami will look like…and it’s not all that different.
GadgetHelpline leaked the images earlier today, which reveal a design very similar to Sony’s last flagship device, the Xperia Z (and its larger cousin, the Xperia Z Ultra). This, of course, means a similarly angular design with sharp edges and covered ports, with the exception of the 3.5mm headphone jack. While the tipster (Weibo user @latter21) who leaked the images couldn’t provide many details in terms of the internals, the pictures did confirm some other elements about the phone, including its lack of a xenon flash and a sizable speaker grille along the bottom edge.
Previously reported specs include a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera, which could be meant to compete with the likes of the recently-revealed Nokia Lumia 1020, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Sony Korea’s CEO, has supposedly also confirmed its existence, referring to it as the i1 Honami and saying that it will come out sometime later this year.
