Between October 5th and 14ths in Tokyo McDonald’s Japan, Sony, and Yahoo! demonstrated the cool factor of the CLIE NX70 at three McDonald’s in Tokyo equipped with Yahoo!’s wireless network.  Various marketing and Sony Engineers were present at these McDonald’s to demonstrate the devices and anwer questions.  The Wireless Network was available throughout the entire restaurant, so customers were able to sign up on a wait list for there chance to chow on cheeseburgers and play around with one of the three NX70’s at each location.

Mmm, strawberry milkshare a la WiFi enabled CLIE NX70V

You’re in McDonald’s, but it’s in your hand…how confusing!

One interesting piece of news that Sony engineers revealed at this McDonald’s experience was the confirmation that the Clie NX70 uses a standard CF bus so that if manufacturers create a driver for their respective memory CF cards, then the 256MB and 512MB memory CF cards and even the 1GB microdrive would be made available to the CLIE.

Yahoo Cafes located in Tokyo are also featuring the new NX70 devices, each Yahoo Cafe has 5 units on hand and are loaded with the new Sony WiFi CF card.  The NX70 uses NetFront 3.0 as its browser type, this browser provides two zoom modes, the default is to view the entire screen and the other option is a zoom mode to increase size of text to that typical on a PC.

The NX70 and NX60 CLIE devices went on sale in Japan last Saturday October 19 and will reach the U.S. by months end.
