Sony Xperia ZLSmartphone users who occasionally drop their devices into a puddle of water, a sink, or maybe even the swimming pool, will be happy to hear that Sony is reportedly working on a water-resistant Xperia phone.

According to a report from the Xperia Blog, Sony is preparing to launch the Xperia ZR, which is set to be water resistant: the device will be capable of sitting in more than five feet of water for up to 30 minutes without being damaged. The report did specify, however, that despite the fact that this feature was also seen on the Xperia Z, this new flagship smartphone will be closer in design to that of the Xperia ZL, which does not have a glass body.

Sony’s new flagship device is also set to have a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600 chipset, a 4.6-inch 720p display, 13-megapizel rear-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage a microSD slot and a 2,300 mAh battery.
