Sony has dropped the price of the PEG-NX70V to just $400. This is $200 off its original price. In addition, Sony’s official store is offering a free speaker cradle with this device.

NX70V Front View This model runs Palm OS 5 on a 200 MHz XScale processor. It has 16 MB of RAM, but only 11 MB is available to the user. It includes a CompactFlash slot that will allow an 802.11b wireless networking card to be plugged in. With the addition of third-party software, this slot can also be used for memory cards. This handheld also has a mini keyboard and a camera that can take still pictures at up to 640-by-480 pixels and small videos.

The NX70V has recently been replaced by the NX80V and NX73V. In fact, the NX70V is quite similar to the NX73V, the main difference being that the newer model’s CompactFlash slot is retractable. This price drop is a clear sign that the NX70V is close to being discontinued. Sony has already stopped offering its sister model, the NX60.

To sweeten the deal, SonyStyle is offering a free speaker cradle (PEGA-SPC100K). This acts as a cradle for the Clie and includes a speaker for the music playing on the handheld.

More Free Stuff

SonyStyle is also offering free accessories with several other of its handhelds. It will include a free wireless LAN card or a free speaker cradle with an NX73V. Those who purchase a PEG-NZ90 get a free leather case and free battery pack. And those who pre-order a UX series model will get a free leather case.

Last week, Sony cut the prices of its PEG-SJ33 and PEG-SJ22.
