Speculation on the palmOne LifeDrive PDA (Tungsten T7)

by Reads (18,409)

We know new palmOne devices are coming, they confirmed at least two in April and May on their last financial conference call. Since that call the speculation as to what’s coming has gone nuts. The latest craze is the palmOne LifeDrive, a PDA complete with VGA display, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 4GB MicroDrive. Take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself.

The promise of the LifeDrive is sure sweet. the specs are said to include:

  • Embedded 4GB Microdrive (with 32MB RAM)
  • USB 2.0
  • Integrated Wifi and Bluetooth
  • Intel XScale 416 MHz CPU
  • Palm OS v5.4 (Garnet)
  • 18-bit color 320 x 480 pixel display
  • Roughly 180% as thick as the Tungsten T5

The consensus rumor has the LifeDrive coming out late spring or early summer at a price of $500. Incidentally, today will probably be the last day I will be able to speculate on what’s coming and what isn’t. I’ll be briefed by palmOne on their release plan for the next few months tomorrow afternoon. Rest assured when the NDA lifts, we’ll have an article and hopefully a full review ready to go.
