It won’t be long before Sprint’s new high-speed data service is available in New York City, San Francisco, and other locations in the U.S.

LTESprint is in the process of switching from WiMAX to LTE for 4G service. It has been introducing te new service since the middle of last year.

The telecom has also been offering smartphones and tablets with LTE service since last year, even in areas where Sprint doesn’t yet have LTE service. Users in these devices have reported that they are now getting the service in places where it isn’t officially available. This includes New York, San Francisco, Washington, DC, Jacksonville, Miami, and Tampa.

Sprint is in the process of bringing LTE services to these areas. It hasn’t made an announcement because the service doesn’t yet cover all of these areas.

“Rather than deploy a site, test the equipment and then turn it off until we launch, we are leaving the sites on and customers are welcome to use the Sprint 4G LTE network wherever they find it,” Sprint spokesperson Kelly Schlageter told The Verge.
