SprintEarlier this week, Research in Motion (RIM) received welcomed news, with confirmation that three of the four major US carriers would carry its upcoming BlackBerry 10 platform. Today, the good news continues for the manufacturer, as Sprint (the fourth major U.S. carrier) announced that it also plans to launch BlackBerry 10 devices later this year.

However, unlike Verizion, AT&T, and T-Mobile, which are expected to begin releasing phones on RIM’s BlackBerry 10 platform this month, Sprint’s release schedule is still unknown. While the carrier has remained somewhat safeguarded on the subject; company spokesman Mark Elliot explained in an email to BGR that “Sprint plans to bring BlackBerry 10 to our customers later this year.”

While all four major U.S. carriers may not be ready to carry the new platform and devices at the initial upcoming BlackBerry 10 launch, the positive news is still a welcomed turnaround for the manufacturer; as the company faced brutal delays of its new operating system and devices in 2012.
