T-Mobile has begun disseminating to users a system software update for the Sidekick 3. This provides a variety of improvements, including support for this carrier’s myFaves service.

myFaves allows users make unlimited calls to five designated people – at any number in the U.S. – even land lines (excluding toll-free and 900 numbers).
The myFaves interface, which features icons or photos on the home screen, also gives users access to a simplified menu for calling, texting, and multimedia messaging these people.
To start using this service, customers will need to have this update installed and call T-Mobile customer care or go online to choose among the myFaves plans.
There are more improvements in this update besides myFaves support.
After installing the new update, users will be able to call, text, email, or IM someone directly from the address book with the press of the trackball. Users can also get a map of this person’s address.
In addition, a text message character counter has been added, as well as the ability to save photo attachments from emails to a photo album on the Sidekick 3.
Coming Over The Air
T-Mobile will be automatically distributing this update to people’s smartphones over the next month (beginning today, 3/20).
This happens automatically, and all the user needs to do is agree to the update.
The carrier can not give a precise date or time when anyone will receive this new software.
