Remember back in March when T-Mobile made the bold move to ditch carrier contracts altogether? Well, the maverick “Uncarrier” of the smartphone industry is gearing up to make another major announcement this summer.
T-Mobile has scheduled a press conference for July 10 in New York, where the company claims it will unveil its “boldest moves yet.”
At the previous event, T-Mobile opted to do away with carrier contracts in favor of a new pricing strategy that allows users to pay $100 down for premium smartphones with subsequent monthly payments to make up the balance. The carrier also made clear its disdain for the old pricing model and those that employ it; as T-Mobile CEO John Legere was happy to relate AT&T’s current pricing model to a certain expletive.
Legere didn’t hold back the profanity in his last address, and it’s likely we can expect the same bold behavior from the carrier and its CEO next month.
