CNet has dished out awards to the top 100 tech products of 2002. In the handheld category there were a few things to take note of. Sony, Dell, HP and even the Hiptop took home some hardware.

Here’s a rundown of the PDA related winners:

Best Palm OS HandheldSony Clie NX70V

Best Pocket PC Handheld – Dell Axim X5

Best Handheld Under $150 –Sony Clie S360

Best PDA Phone – Handspring Treo 300

Best Handheld That Costs More Than a Budget Desktop – HP iPAQ h5450

Best Hip Top Device – T-Mobile Sidekick

Here’s the link to the full PDA and Cell Phone category.

Is there any room for debate on this list? I’d say they were right on. I know someone will argue the iPAQ h1910 is better than the Axim, and some might even argue the Toshiba e740 was the best, for its time. We do need to have some level of context built into these rankings…or at least I think so.

Maybe this year we’ll hand out BargainPDA awards for the best and worst in the PDA field. Hmmm, that might be fun!
