Some new — if unconfirmed — details have emerged on an upcoming Pocket PC phone from Samsung.
Last month, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved the use of the SGH-i770 in the United States, but at its developer’s request many of the details of this device were kept confidential.
Still, the documents posted on this government agency’s web site were enough to reveal that this will be a clamshell Pocket PC phone with an unusual keyboard. Pressing on one side of each key will result in one letter, whole the other side of the same key will type a different letter.
On the hinge of this smartphone will be a image/video camera with flash, and on the outside will be a small external display.
The FCC documents also showed that the i770 will be a tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
More recently, an anonymous source gave Phone Scoop some additional details on this smartphone.
Supposedly, the i770’s camera will have a 2.0 megapixel resolution that will be rotatable to face either the user or what’s in front of the device.
It will also reportedly have a microSD slot for additional storage.
At this point, many details on the Samsung i770 remain a mystery, like its processor, amount of memory, and where it will be available.
