Toshiba e830 Introduced, but Not in U.S.

The Toshiba e830 has been introduced in Europe, but not in the United States.

This new high-end Pocket PC now appears on the Toshiba France web site, but the only models on the Toshiba U.S.A. site are the e800 and e400.

According to various sources, this isn’t an accident. While the e830 will be sold in Europe and Japan, it won’t be available in the U.S. It is not known at this time why Toshiba made this decision.

Overview of the Toshiba e830

The e830 is an updated version of the already-available e800. All of the changes to this model are internal. Externally, it will be essentially identical to its predecessor.

It has a 4-inch 640-by-480-pixel (VGA) screen. Because this model uses Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, its display can be easily switched between portrait and landscape modes.

Toshiba e800 This Pocket PC runs a 520 MHz Intel PXA270 XScale processor. It has 128 MB of RAM, plus 64 MB of ROM, of which 24 MB are available to the user for additional storage.

The e830 offers both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 1.2 wireless networking. It includes both a CompactFlash Type II slot and an SD/MMC slot that supports SDIO.

This device is 5.3 inches high, 3.0 inches wide and 0.6 inches thick (135 mm by 77 mm by 17 mm).
