Treo 180 Handspring has just announced a special offer for the holidays. Its Treo 180 communicators are now available for $99 after mail in rebate. For a limited time, and only while supplies last, customers who purchase a Treo 180 or 180g with a GPRS service contract from T-Mobile will get an additional $150 off through a mail-in rebate.

Alternately, customers can activate a new Cingular Wireless or non-GPRS T-Mobile service plan and be eligible for a $50 mail-in rebate, reducing the price of the smartphone to $199.

The Treo 180 and 180g are the first members of the Treo line. The 180 has a built-in keyboard while the 180g is the only member of the Treo line to depend on Graffiti for text input. Both have a 160 by 160 pixel monochrome screen and run Palm OS 3.5 on a 33 MHz Dragonball processor and have 16 MB of RAM.

These smartphones include both wireless voice and data services and Handspring recently released a software upgrade to allow them to use GPRS networks, increasing the speed they at which they can wirelessly transfer to a theoretical 144 Kbps, though real-world performance is typically half that.
