Tungsten T3 SD Memory Card Issues?

Reports are circulating around the web suggesting that there are problems with certain types of SD memory cards when they are used with Palm One’s new Tungsten T3.  According to the reports, the SD cards may lose data and /or become corrupted when used with Palm’s newest high-end PDA.  So far the problem seems to be limited only to SD cards that are 256MB and larger in size.  Additionally, it seems that the majority of reported issues have been encountered with cards manufactered by SanDisk, however some Panasonic and Toshiba branded cards have also been suggested to share similar issues.  There is some good news that may suggest that if in fact the problems exist, it is a software issue rather than a hardware malfunction.  Bits & Bolts Software (www.bitsnbolts.com)  today made the following statement regarding this issue:

“The problem appears to be in the Slot Driver of the Tungsten T3 handheld. We have sent PalmOne a detailed technical explanation of the problem along with a sample program and source that they can use to duplicate the failure.”

Bits & Bolts Software also recommends that users completely avoid use of SanDisk branded cards with the T3 at this time.  Although word has not been received from Palm One as of yet, we here at BargainPDA will keep you posted on updates regarding this story as they become available.
