The Dell PPC looks sleek and for $300, they should turn a few units. According to the slides, the release date to retailers is December 4th.
Dell Pocket PC Specs
What a week this has been. Now through two different sources, we have a pretty good idea what this PDA will have under the hood. Speculative release date has now centered on November 5th.
It seems that Dell actually has already started production of the device and may have thousands of units in hand. Here’s what we know:
4.10″ x 3.5″ x .7″
240 x 320 pixels
64MB on board RAM
CF and SD slots
MP3 player, speaker and stereo jack outputs
Lithium Ion battery
Silver body with ruberized edges
It sounds a little heavy in my book, it s possible that our sources are off on this point. Notice the dual expansion options. This would be the first entry-level PDA to boast C and SD slots. Not a bad move, although the industry seems to be moving away from CF.
How much? $300. The entry-level PDA market that was non-existent last week, now has three major players, two their first time at the dance. The ViewSonic V35, Toshiba 330 and now the Dell PPC should make for an interesting November.
