DigiTimes has confirmed the new Genio will be available in Japan later this month. It will sell for 70,000 yen, or $600 US. There’s still no word on whether or not the Genio e550C will make it to Eurpore or the US.
This new Genio e550C is simply stacked. The specs read like a Pocket PC wish list – CF slot, SD I/O slot, camera, great screen, 128MB RAM, new PXA 255 processor and USB host. Check out these pictures and prepare to wipe up your drool!
Here’s a list of the known specs –
-Intel XScale PXA 255 CPU – 400MHz
-Pocket PC 2002
-One CF slot
-One SDIO slot
-Integrated camera with flash (640 x 480 pixels)
-48MB Flash ROM
-Polysilicon liquid TFT display
-190 grams with flip cover
-76.5mm (width) 125mm (height) 17.5mm (depth)
-1100 mAh non-replacable battery
-Battery life – 9 hours at 400MHz, 12 hours at 200MHz
So even though the camera is not great, it’s very nicely integrated. This will be the first device, if it makes it to the US, to bring 128MB RAM to market. The screen is iPAQ quality and will turn a lot of heads. The dual expansion options and USB host are just great. So where does it fall short? No integrated wireless and no user replacable battery, which is becomming standard. There is no word when we might see this in the US and how much it will cost.
