US Cellular has introduced the No Contract Unlimited Data Talk & Text plan featuring unlimited data for just $50 a month.
The plan includes unlimited data, free activation, coast-to-coast coverage, and no roaming charges. However, there are some limitations in the fine print that customers will want to consider before signing up.
The most notable drawback to the “unlimited” data is that it is only unlimited up to the first 500MB, after that, the data drops down 1X from 3G to 2G speeds. Another restriction on the no-contract deal is that it is only available with the purchase of one of four specific handsets. Users can opt for the Moto X priced at $300 after rebates, the Samsung Axiom, the Kyocera Hydro XTRM, both priced at $130 after rebates, or the ZTE Director priced at $50.
US Cellular has rolled out the $50 plan, but the company has stated that the plan is available for a limited time as part of its no-contract offerings.
