Verizon Customers Can Now Pre-order an Apple iPhone

Verizon Wireless has just begun taking pre-orders for its version of the Apple iPhone 4 from its current customers. Those who plan to switch to this carrier to get Apple’s smartphone have to wait another week, though.

Pre-orders placed now will arrive on Feb. 10. However, the carrier is warning customers that there is the possibility that it will run out of its initial supply of this product. If this happens, some customers won’t get their devices until after the launch day.

The iPhone 4 has been available from AT&T since last summer, but Verizon will only be the second U.S. carrier to offer it. Due to well-publicized complaints about AT&T’s wireless network, many have been reluctant to switch to this carrier even to get Apple’s smartphone. That is why there is expected to be so much demand for Verizon’s version.

And for New Customers…
Those who are switching to Verizon to get the iPhone 4 will be able to put in a pre-order for one on Wednesday, Feb. 9. These reservations will need to be made at

Devices that have been reserved can be delivered the next day, or picked up at an Apple or Verizon retail location.

Like its rival AT&T, Verizon is going to offer two versions of this model: one with 16 GB of storage that sells for $200 with a two-year wireless service contract, while the 32 GB version goes for $300 with contract. These are the same prices AT&T charges.

Verizon is making a couple of special offers. Current customers who upgraded to a new smartphone during the holiday shopping season can get $200 off the cost of a new iPhone (read more details) or AT&T customers can trade-in their smartphone to defray some of the cost of a new Verizon model (read more details).
