Verizon Gets the Treo 700p First… Sort Of

Recently, Sprint PCS announced that it would be the first wireless carrier to offer Palm’s latest smartphone, the Treo 700p. However, Verizon Wireless is now taking pre-orders for it, while this device has not yet appeared on Sprint’s web site.

Still, a page on on Palm’s web site clearly shows that Sprint will begin shipping this model several weeks before Verizon does.

Verizon’s price is $500 with a 2-year service contract, higher than was previously expected. This carrier is charging $550 with a 1-year contract.

Sprint says it plans to charge $400 for this smartphone with a 2-year contract.

It is quite possible, though, that once Sprint begins offering this device Verizon might offer some rebates that will lower its price. This company announced earlier that its price would be in-line with its rival’s.

The Treo 700p can be found on Verizon’s web site.
