Verizon Offering $200 for AT&T iPhone Trade-Ins, But Better Deals Are Available

Now that Verizon is getting the iPhone 4, it’s doing everything it can to lure in former AT&T faithful, including offering a trade-in service for old devices.

e-Cycle vs. Verizon Trade-inUsers can trade in an old (yet still functioning) iPhone 3G, 8 GB for $36 or the newer iPhone 4, 16 GB for $212.

A Better Option
This seems like an enticing deal from Verizon, but there’s a bit of intrigue, as it turns out that Verizon’s recycling partner, the (apparently competing) cell phone buyback service e-Cycle, is offering customers a better deal.

The environmentally-friendly service will purchase the very same iPhone 3G, 8 GB for $90 and an identical iPhone 4, 16 GB for $280.

In most cases, the appraisals offered on e-Cycle’s website were moderately to significantly higher than those offered by Verizon.

The companies have a “business solution alliance”, and aside from offering buybacks/trade-ins online, both will be at the Macworld Expo offering these services.

The Verizon iPhone will be available February 10, trade-in or not.
