Verizon Releases 3-D VZ Navigator VX for Droid Smartphones

Verizon has added an extra-dimension to its VZ Navigator service, with the new VX version offering 3-D city models for select locales.

VZ Navigator VXThe 3-D navigator offers “true-to-life images of highway and exit signs” to go with its detailed city coverage.

VZ Navigator VX builds on the existing version of this app, including improved functionality for finding points of interest, the ability to run multiple functions simultaneously within a navigation session, and integration with Facebook.

Availability & Pricing
There are six cities currently covered with the 3-D models: Chicago, Detroit, LA, New York, Washington D.C., and Kansas City, MO.

Current phones supporting the VZ Navigator VX include Motorola’s Droid X, HTC’s Droid Incredible, and Samsung’s Fascinate.

Verizon promises more locations and compatible devices will be available this year. 

The VZ Navigator service costs $9.99 per month, and can also be purchased for weekly usage for $4.99, or a day pass for $2.99. Monthly users will receive automatic map updates at no charge.
