While the HTC One may not be heading to Verizon Wireless as quickly as initially expected, it appears that Verizon consumers can expect some special fanfare when the flagship handset finally makes its way to the carrier.
On Thursday, a report surfaced from PhoneArena indicating that the SKU (stock keeping unit) coded in as HTC6500LVWBLU, has been added to Verizon’s stock list, which is described in the listing as “HTC One in Blue.” The HTC One blue variant will supposedly be unique to Verizon, much in the same way that the Glamor Red” version of the HTC One will be unique to Sprint.
PhoneArena’s unnamed source confirmed yesterday’s report that Verizon is scheduled to release the HTC One on August 15. The date was moved back after early reports indicated that the carrier would release the handset on Aug. 1. While Verizon is expected to release the HTC One later this month, there is currently no date that has been specifically noted for the blue variant of the HTC One.
Verizon and HTC have yet to announce a price for the HTC One. Given the lapse in time from its initial release and the popularity of Samsung’s Galaxy S IV, along with the upcoming collection of Motorola Devices, Verizon and HTC will likely reduce the price of the HTC One in hopes of making the somewhat aged handset more attractive to consumers.
