Verizon Wireless on Monday announced the addition of Microsoft Office 365 to its Small Business Essentials portfolio. Accessible from PCs, Macs and mobile devices, Office 365 is a cloud-based productivity suite combining email, instant messages with presence, video and voice conferencing, and document sharing.
In Office 365, Microsoft has swapped out its old Office Communications Online and Live Meeting for the new Lync Online, while also improving the online editions of Exchange and PowerPoint. On the mobile side, Office 365 now supports the Windows Phone, Android, iOS, and BlackBerry operating systems.
“Our small businesses and entrepreneurs consistently rank two priorities the highest when it comes to using productivity tools to run their business: simplicity and cost effectiveness,” said Michael C. Schaefer, executive director, Wireless Business Solutions, Verizon Wireless, in a prepared statement.
“We included Office 365 with Small Business Essentials to address these needs. Plus, we also want to emphasize it is scalable — which is ideal for companies in the growing segment of up to 50 employees. With all of our SMB-related products and services, our goal is to help customers expedite their workflow so they can work smarter, faster and more efficiently.”
Also through the offering, the data can be locked and wiped clean if a user’s device gets lost, damaged or stolen, thereby helping to safeguard sensitive business information.
For convenience, when a new device is activated and connected to Office 365, the user’s email, contacts, and calendar data can be directly synced to the phone or tablet. Meanwhile, Office 13, a Windows 8-enabled future replacement for Office 365, is now in beta testing.
Pricing is $6 per month, per user, for Office 365, included with Verizon Wireless’ Small Business Essentials.
