An unofficial upgrade to BlackBerry OS 5.0 for Verizon’s version of the Storm has leaked out, giving those brave enough to install it a sneak peek at the next version of RIM’s operating system.
OS 5.0 will bring a wide variety of improvements, like tabbed web browsing, flagged emails, and a greatly improved Maps application.
It’s not clear exactly when the official version of this upgrade will be released, but it’s not going to be too far in the future.
The upcoming Storm2 is expected to debut running BlackBerry OS 5.0.
A Quick Overview of the BlackBerry Storm
This is the first BlackBerry with a touchscreen, which is 3.25 inches and 360 by 480 pixels. This display takes the place of the keyboard typically found on RIM models.
The BlackBerry Storm is available now from Verizon Wireless, and was recently cut to $100 with a two-year contract.
This model has mobile broadband and Bluetooth, but not Wi-Fi.
