Verizon customers may have to wait a bit longer for the HTC One, despite earlier rumors that suggested that Verizon would offer the metallic flagship handset starting on August 1. Needless to say, the phone isn’t out today, and a new report from Droid-Life states that the smartphone won’t be available to consumers until August 15.
According to Droid-Life, the information comes from a leaked Verizon Wireless internal document that notes the new launch date. However, Verizon has yet to confirm the date and considering the validity of the last purported release date, it’s fair to question the accuracy of this leak.
Even if the release date turns out to be false, one thing is for certain, the HTC One is quickly becoming dated. While the handset was released to rave reviews back in April, the smartphone industry continues to evolve at an exponential rate and the competitors’ next-generation handsets are nearing release. When the HTC One finally arrives at Verizon retailers, the Moto X and LG G2 will have already been announced and Apple’s new iPhones will likely be less than a month away from debuting.
