Last week, Palm, Inc. and Vodafone said that a Windows Mobile-based Treo will be coming to this carrier’s GSM network before the end of this year. Now, Vodafone has added a page devoted to this smartphone to its web site.
Unfortunately for those eager for this device’s release, this page reveals no details about this device that weren’t contained in last week’s announcement.
At this point, the page on Vodafone’s site seems mostly to be there to allow people to sign up to be notified when this Treo is released.
What Little We Know
As this upcoming Treo smartphone isn’t expected for at least another couple of months, very little information is available on it.
Palm and Vodafone have revealed that this device will run Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC. It will be first Windows Mobile device from Palm that will use the GSM/GPRS standard.
In addition, it will support UMTS, a 3G wireless-networking standard widely used in Europe.
