Windows Mobile 2003 Upgrade Released for Samsung i700

A Window Mobile 2003 upgrade has finally been released for the Verizon Wireless version of Samsung’s SCH-i700 cellular-wireless Pocket PC.

Verizon Wireless launched this model in March of last year running Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition. For a long time there was no official word on whether an operating system upgrade would be released. Finally, this spring, a message quietly appeared on Samsung’s developer web site promising a Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade.

It took a while, but this upgrade is finally available. Users of this handheld can find it on Verizon Wireless’ web site.

More About the i700

Samsung SCH-i700 This model uses an Intel XScale PXA250 processor. It has 64 MB of RAM and 64 MB of ROM.

It has a camera capable of taking 640-by-480 pixel images. It doesn’t have a flash. The i700 has an SD card slot and a removeable battery.

It is 5.2 by 2.75 by .7 inches and weighs 5.6 ounces.

It costs $600 with a 2-year contract, or $650 with a 1-year contract.
