HTC One Windows PhoneLooks like the HTC One might be getting a new operating system this fall. According to a recent report from Neowin, HTC is reportedly working on a Windows Phone 8 device that looks similar to the HTC One. The mostly metal handset is not expected to be an exact re-hash of HTC’s popular flagship smartphone, but it will look and feel similar.

Considering that the HTC One was well received by critics and sold more than 5 million units, it makes sense that the manufacturer would look to extend the life of its popular design with new variants. The purported device will offer a 4 to 5-inch display, Beats Audio, and the GDR3 update for Windows Phone, according to Neowin‘s unnamed source. The HTC One offers a 4.7-inch display, but it is uncertain if this new variant will use the same screen.

The phone is expected to be announced in the fall and is expected to hit markets sometime later this year. Rumors also suggest that the device might employ HTC’s UltraPixel technology in the device’s camera, but, like the rest of the information regarding the device, that has yet to be confirmed.
