XPERIA pro and XPERIA neo on the Way From Sony Ericsson

The recently unveiled XPERIA Play isn’t the only new member of the Xperia family to come out of the Mobile World Congress, with Sony Ericsson also announcing the XPERIA pro and the XPERIA neo smartphones.

Both of these upcoming models will run Google Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) and have up to 320 MB of memory. Both phones will also come with an 8 GB microSD card, with memory card support for up to 32 GB.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA ProA slider smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard, the XPERIA pro will be powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and will be available in silver, red, and black.

The device will sport a roomy 3.7-inch, 854 x 480 display that will use Sony’s Bravia graphics technology.

In its announcement, Sony Ericsson emphasized this smartphone’s usefulness to business as well as those who do a lot of mobile messaging.

The pro will have two cameras: an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing one for video conferencing.

With the exception of a slide-out keyboard, the XPERIA neo has most of the same specs as the pro, including the screen size, resolution, and dual cameras.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA NeoAvailable in silver, red, and blue, the neo also has the ability to plug into your HDTV via an HDMI port and can be controlled with a standard remote.

Not surprisingly, Sony Ericsson is emphasizing the multimedia capabilities of this model, and is therefore targeting it at consumers.

Price & Availability
There is no word yet on pricing for either of the devices, but the neo will be available around the end of the first quarter of this year, with the pro coming at the end of the second quarter.
