Sharp has confirmed the release of the SL-5600 in the US, and the SL-A300 a horizontal clamshell, in Japan. Sharp’s line relies on a Linux operating system which has been trying to gain steam in the PDA market for the past year or so.
The 5600 has a number of upgrades over the prior model, the 5500. Most important is a new processor and more on board memory. Here’s a spec sheet detailing the core upgrades:
The form factor is almost identical to the 5500 with the exception of a bump on the back that houses a much larger battery. We don’t have any pictures of the back yet, but here’s a nice one of the front.
