Acer Tempo M900: Conclusion
CONCLUSION
On the hardware side, the Acer Tempo M900 is a sure-fire winner. It’s got all the widgets one can reasonably expect, and at a price that’s surprisingly reasonable for unlocked and unbranded.
My only concern in recommending it for the feature junkies out there is that I’m not terribly confident that it would hold up. The slider doesn’t have the durable feel that I’m accustomed to from my HTC and Samsung units, and there are at least a couple other dubious engineering decisions that could go bad in long-term use. Add to that the death of my first review unit, and I’m left with distinctly uncomfortable impressions.
For some people, it may be a dream come true, but I wouldn’t feel very comfortable rolling the dice on such an unreliable piece of hardware, given the pricetag, unless I had some really superb lifetime warranty service.
Pros:
- Spectacular hardware set
- Large, dazzling screen
Cons:
- Build-quality issues
- Large and heavy
- Fatal malfunction part way through testing
Bottom Line:
A sexy device, but not without potential serious issues.
