Cronk Games Cronk for iPhone Review

Cronk is a Bejeweled-esque game offered by Cronk Games through the Apple App Store for the iPod Touch and iPhone. It requires you to destroy a train of boulders one color at a time before they crush Cronk’s village.

The cool graphics, classic or timed modes, and skill-testing gameplay definitely put this game on our recommended list.

Gameplay
Cronk is an easy game to learn how to play, and addictive once you start playing. Your goal is to reduce the number of boulders coming at you from the top of the screen rolling down a set path.

Cronk for iPhoneYou have two game modes: classic mode and timed mode. The Classic mode lets you play for as long as you can keep the line of boulders from crushing the tribal village, while timed is to protect a village during a set period of time. I found that classic mode best fit my needs, since I usually turn on a game when I need to pass the time during a short break, whereas timed mode might require a dedicated slot of time.

Interface and Installation
The Cronk interface looks good, with highly-detailed static background images depending on the game map. Menu settings are easy to access, and they look polished with game-relevant backgrounds and non-standard fonts. In short it appears that the Cronk Games developers put some time into improving the appearance of the game. Some applications use stock menu structures that look like system menus, and these look out of place in games.

Game settings are limited to selecting which game type, difficulty level, music volume, sound effects volume, and boulder texture (smooth or rough).

Cronk for iPhoneInstallation is as simple as could be with the App Store. You search for the game by name, click Buy Now, then install. The game is automatically downloaded to your iPod or iPhone and installed when the download is complete. The game doesn’t require any setup to start; just start it up and jump into the game.

Conclusion

If you are looking for another game to add to your growing iPod or iPhone game collection Cronk is worth checking out if you like Bejeweled style games. It is easy to jump into the game and pick up where you left off, perfect for those 5 minute breaks you might have throughout your workday.

Cronk version 1.1 ran well without any noticeable glitches or crashing.

It normally sells for only $4.99, but is now $2.99 for a limited time. At that price, it’s hard to go wrong with this game.
